Graves, Jr., Miss Margaret McNeil, Clell W. Whelchel Absent: Donald Q. Miller City Staff Present: J. H. Fitzpatrick, City Clerk; R. D. Miller, Administrative Officer; D. F. Romero, City Engineer Others Present James Balzaretti, Chamber of Commerce; Richard T. Bristol, Southwest Manager of Sunset Magazine The City Council met with Mr. Bristol representing the Sunset Magazine, who explained the purpose and goals of the Sunset Magazine Company in the western region of the United States. Mr. Bristol explained that the Sunset Magazine represents western travel for western people and explained the benefits that San Luis Obispo could receive by advertising in their magazine. Mr. Bristol then showed a film on the operation of Sunset Magazine in attempting to reach the western population. Mr. Bristol then presented copies of advertising media used by other western communities and cities to advertise their community or communities to the traveling public. Mr. Bristol urged that the City Council seriously consider advertising the City of San Luis Obispo in the Sunset Magazine. Mr. Balzaretti, Chamber of Commerce Secretary, reported to the City Council that he had received $600.00 from the County Board of Supervisors to run a County ad in the Sunset Magazine for six (6) months. On motion of Councilwoman McNeil, seconded by Councilman Graves, the meeting adjourned. Approved: January 20, 1964 J. H. FITZPATRICK, CITY CLERK 1
