Fitzpatrick, City Clerk. ....................... ----- ...................................... - ............ - 1. Communication from Mrs. Luiz A. Pereira requesting permission for a short procession through downtown San Luis Obispo on Thursday$ April 28, 1966 between 7:30 and 8:00 P.M. publicizing the "Warren Dorn for Governor% Mrs. Pereira also requested the use of a loud speaker and police escort during the procession. On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Spring, the request was approved. 2. Communication from Elmer Moody, Central Coast Appraisal Service, proposing to appraise the Vollmer and Leitcher properties on Monterey and Broad Streets for $200.00 plus provision for court.appearances. On motion of Councilman Gallagher, seconded by Councilman Spring, the proposal was accepted and Mr. Moody was authorized to proceed. 3. Order of the County Board of Supervisors approving the request of the City ' Council-of the City -of San Luis - Obispo to consolidate the City's special election with the June 7, 1966 primary election. 4. At this.time Mr. Ronald Dunin, Chairman of the Motel Operators Association of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the City Council and stated that the purpose of the meeting was an attempt to start a program of encouraging the devel- opment of the community to encourage tourism and conventions through the cooper- ation of the Chamber of Commerce, the City Government and businessmen of the City. He stated that the time was now right to move ahead with this program. Mr. Dunin introduced Mr. Rick Martin, representing the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, who explained to the group present the problems faced by Fresno in promoting their economic growth and then listed their accomplishments to date and the solutions found by the leaders of the Fresno area. He then suggested several things that should be done to promote the City of San Luis Obispo, Mr. Dunin then introduced Mr. Donald Tunnell, United Airline Sales Representative, who listed the things that have been done by the airlines to encourage tourist travel throughout the United States.. He listed methods used by United Airlines in cooperation with tour promoters in order to publicize air travel by tourists. After their presentation, both Mr. Martin and Mr. Tunnell answered questions and discussed various methods of promotion used by their respective organizations. Mr. Dunin then thanked the City Council for their cooperation in allowing the Motel Operators Association to meet with them on this important matter.
