2. OCS OFFSHORE DRILLING MORATORIUM
Council considered a resolution supporting a.moratorium on the question
of offshore drilling along sensitive areas of central and northern
coast.
Councilwoman Dovey stated she would have preferred to have seen the
resolution speak only to the local concerns of the City of San Luis
Obispo and not take the position of adopting a resolution similar to
those of other outside agencies.
Councilman Dunin agreed with Councilwoman Dovey.
3:50 p.m. Councilman Settle arrived at the meeting.
Councilmembers Griffin and Settle agreed that the resolution should be
adopted; that it was well written and they could be supportive of it.
After brief discussion, it was moved by Councilman Griffin, seconded by
Councilman Settle, that the following resolution be introduced: Resolu-
tion No.4831 (1982 series), a resolution in support of the United States
House of Representatives Bill 6365 (Proposed central and northern
California Offshore Drilling Moratorium).
Passed and adopted on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Griffin, Settle, Dovey and Mayor Billig
NOES: Councilman Dunin
ABSENT: None
3. CIP FIELD TRIP
Paul Lanspery, Administrative Officer, reviewed.for the Council the
Capital Improvements Projects Field Trip schedule visiting the Parks
Utilities and Street Yard, Goudel property at South Higuera, Corporation
Yard at Prado Road and Highway 101, Sewer Treatment Plant, the Community
Pool at Sinsheimer Park and the Police Station. He explained that a
week from Thursday, June 3, the Council would be discussing the
financial impacts of these capital improvements in more detail.
At 3:55 p.m. the City Council adjourned for the Field Trip. At 6:20
p.m. the City Council reconvened, all Councilmembers present.
There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor
Billig adjourned the meeting at 6:20 p.m.
