MINUTES REGULAR MEETING

CALL TO ORDER: 5:00 PM
PRESENT: Chairperson: Ron Tilley; Vice-Chairperson: Michelle Tasseff;
Commissioners: Robert Clayton, Janet Pierrucci and Gene Strohl
Commissioner Clayton arrived at 5:40 p.m.
ABSENT: Commissioners: Maria Troy

CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES:
ACTION: Moved by Strohl/Tasseff to approve the minutes of September 3, 2014 as
submitted; motion carried 4:0.

Item 1. REVIEW 2013-2014 GRANTS IN AID YEAR END REPORTS (TILLEY)
Commissioner Tilley reported on Peoples Self-Help Housing Project,
Homeless Prevention and Supportive Housing Services; Casa Solana, God
Beds; Community Action Partnership, Case Management Homeless
Prevention; Wilshire Community Services, Creative Mediation; Achievement
House Inc., Hydroponic Nursery; Community Action Partnership, Adult
Wellness & Prevention Screening; SLO Child Development Resource Center,
Therapeutic Classroom Intervention; Alpha Pregnancy and Parenting Support,
Emergency Baby Food and Formula; SLO Legal Alternatives Corporation,
Senior Legal Services Project; One Cool Earth, Garden Matchmaking.
Commissioner Tasseff reported on Transitional Food and Shelter, Emergency
Shelter for the Medically Fragile; Senior Nutrition Program of SLO County,
Serving Hot Lunches to Seniors County-wide; Food Bank Coalition of SLO
County, Senior Brown Bag/Harvest Bag Distribution to SLO Residents; Big
Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County, Youth Mentoring; United Way of SLO
County, 211 SLO County; Assistance League of SLO County, Operation
School Bell; Options Family Services, Diabetes Training.
Commissioner Strohl reported on Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO County,
Youth Mentoring.
Commissioner Pierucci reported on Transitions Mental Health Association,
Growing Grounds Farm; Noor Foundation, In-House Medical Lab/Supplies;
United Cerebral Palsy, Raised Boxes at the Ranch; Alliance for
Pharmaceutical Access, Improving Access to Prescription Medication for SLO
City Residents.
Commissioner Clayton reported on SLO County AIDS Support Network,
Hepatitis C Project – Access to Health Care & Benefits Counseling; SLO
County AIDS Support Network, AIDS Homeless Prevention and Supportive
Housing Program; Gay and Lesbian Alliance, GALA Q Youth Project;
Community Counseling Center, Affordable Therapy for Low Income and
Uninsured Clients.
Item 2. DISCUSS ADVISORY BODY GOALS TO COUNCIL (STAFF)
Budget Manager Lamers described Council Goal Setting process.
Moved by Strohl/Pierucci to approved Advisory Body Goals to Council as
amended, motion carried 4:0.
Item 3. REVIEW THE GRANTS IN AID 2015-16 APPLICATION (TILLEY)
Commissioners agreed by consensus to make no changes to the 2015-16
Grants-in-Aid Application
Item 4. REVIEW 4TH QUARTER 2013-2014 MAXINE LEWIS MEMORIAL SHELTER
REPORT (TILLEY/MCINTOSH)
Commissioners received the 4th quarter Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter
Report.
Item 5. RELEASE 2ND QUARTER 2014-2015 MAXINE LEWIS MEMORIAL
SHELTER FUNDS. (TILLEY)
Moved by Strohl/Pierucci to release 2nd Quarter 2014-15 Maxine Lewis
Memorial Shelter Funds, motion carried 5:0.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
No further commissioner comments.
There being no further business to come before the HRC, Tilley adjourned the HRC
meeting at 6:50 p.m. to the regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, 2014
at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at 990 Palm St.
