Kelli Schonher's TF -LUCE Application (page 2) Q1 .PLEASE LISTANY INTEREST GROUPS OR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO WHICH YOU ARE CURRENTLY AFFILIATED (I.E. SIERRA CLUB, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AYSO, ETC.) Al. • Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers /San Luis Obispo Parks, Open Space and Trails Foundation (CCCMB /SLOPOST) • The Land Conservancy of SLO • American Land Conservancy - Wild Cherry Canyon Project • SLO Country Bike Coalition • Society for Conservation Geographic Information Systems (SCGIS) • GIS User -group Q2. PLEASE LIST YOUR EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL TRAINING AND /OR SKILLS WHICH QUALIFY YOU FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO THE TF -LUCE: A2. I understand the local political landscape as it applies to land use because I contribute to local, monthly trails advisory meetings. I have been active with the CA State Parks, as well as the SLO County Parks Departments for the past 3 years. At the city level, I have actively supported the City of SLO Stenner Springs Natural Reserve Conservation Plan and the Irish Hills Natural Reserve Conservation Plan Updates. Additionally, I have been an active advocate for the American Land Conservancy's effort to acquire Wild Cherry Canyon. I have an appreciation for circulation issues through my professional mapping experience: updating the City of Morro Bay Master Bike Plan and developing the SLOCOG- initiated California Coastal Trail Master Plan. I understand the importance and usefulness of an up -to -date master plan from my work with the SLO County Park Department's project to inventory trail easements. Specifically, after two years reviewing and mapping trail easements throughout the county, I have a detailed knowledge of the trail corridors proposed in the County's Park and Recreation Element. I know how a good Master Plan provides the infrastructure for Staff to make effective recommendations to advisory groups, who in turn help voting committees make good decisions. Q3. REASON FOR APPLYING TO BE ON TASK FORCE? A3.1 have personally experienced how valuable up -to -date master plans are for a community in both my volunteering and professional capacities. I feel it is my responsibility as a citizen of SLO to help my elected and appointed city officials create a tool for effective decision - making. As our city grows, I would like to see residents have the opportunity to connect to nature. This interaction can occur in so many different ways that it is critical to establish a sustainable and rational infrastructure. 1 am eager to contribute my time and effort towards optimal updates of the Land Use and Circulation Elements of the General Plan.
