Dear Mayor Marx and Members of the City Council,
As current Chair of the Mass Transportation Committee, I am writing to urge you to direct city staff to move the New
Downtown Transit Center project forward by soliciting grants for environmental review and other project development
work. I believe that this idea of moving the current Downtown Transit Center to the projected location on Higuera Street
near Toro makes great sense. Although completion of the project, and even its moving forward, will depend on
developing funding from many sources, the project is too important not to be steadily supported by the City Council.
I had hoped to attend tonight's meeting, but the possibility of there being no transportation home at a late hour forced me
to send this email instead. I do hope that you will support this worthwhile endeavor.
