Dear Councilmember Marx,
AB 1648 would strike a blow for democracy. I hope you will step up and have the city endorse it.
AB 1648 is endorsed by good government groups like the League of Women Voters of California, the
California Clean Money Campaign, California Common Cause, and CALPIRG, end even by organizations
representing people of faith, like California Church IMPACT and the Southwest California Synod of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
I know that 59% of voters said they'd be less likely to vote for an elected official who they found out had
voted against improving (under disclosure on political ads. I'm certainly one of them.
I trust that you will make passing real disclosure a priority for these reasons and many more. Your
leadership will mean a lot to the voters.
