Public Comments from Laguna Lake Management Plan Review

Concerns:
• Sedimentation is fasterthan predicted.
• Management of the lake and park could be seen as deficient (City re ived park for free).
• There is already financing available due to higher lakeside values (25 higher property value).
• We don't "have time" because nothing has been done over the past any years of study.
• Encroachment of reeds' reduces the ability to get off the lake (safety isue).
• Length of permitting is significant.
Ideas:
• Reconfigure "dam" (Madonna Road Bridge) to reduce sedimentation
• Evaluate City -wide parcel based financing (What is the community willing to pay ?).
• Consider other manage'ment ideas besides dredging to address lake ater quality.
• Consider renting dredge equipment and have City staff run the operaltion.
• Use the CIP Program to begin setting aside funding for necessary r1gement.
• Promote recreational use of the lake to increase City -wide use /awareness of its value.
• Install trails on the north side of the lake to increase public access.
• Re- establish Prefumo Arm of the lake and include mitigation to slow siltation down.
• Emphasize keeping sedimentation out of the lake with upstream measures.
• Make incremental progress towards a vision for the lake.
