July 5,
Mayor marx and Members of the City Council,
RECEIVED
JUL 0'9 2012
1 have been a resident of the City of 3LO for 35 years and i have
never been so angry and disgusted by the cities harsh treatment by our
police officers of the homeless sleeping in their vshicles:
i fully realize that some of these folks have mental problems, some
have physical problems, some are veterans, some just need a little help,
some are moochers etc., yet the city is treating all of those folks as
criminals and making them criminals byiP ng them and putting them in jail!
Why not clear the lot that the proposed 200 bed yet to be built
homeless facility and let those folks park on the lotY Supply Fort —a-
Pottys and trash receptacles, and gently monitor them.
►Further more there needs to be a big push to raise the money to
build the proposed facility.
i believe that Judge Crandall is correct that the city just wanted
to run those people out of town, when there were more options that
could have been taken, and more resources available to help solve the
situation..
Why don't the businesses put collection boxes in their businesses
to collect money for the new homeless facility' Why don't they collect
money at the Farmers Market for this cause if this is not already done?
Why not have matching funds contests to raise money for the .facility?
All that the public hears is: we need $8,000,000 more dollars before it
can be started!
i don't want our city to be known as the meanist city in the state
for the way it treats its homeless population!
