Dear Maeve,
This letter confirms that I am resigning my San Luis Obispo City Council seat to accept the
position of City Administrator in Guadalupe.
My resignation is effective at the close of Council's regularly schedule meeting of February 19,

It has been an honor serving the citizens of San Luis Obispo and a pleasure working with
Council members and staff both past and present.
All the best.

1 have decided to stop running for mayor. Here is a statement I am distributing today which explains why:
"I have decided to discontinue my campaign for Mayor of San Luis Obispo. Although it is an honor to
serve on City Council, that service comes at great personal and financial cost to my family and me. Continuing
to run for mayor and being elected mayor would only add to that cost. I apologize for making this decision so
late in the campaign process."
Sheryl, I will follow up with respect to my reporting requirements going forward. Needless to say, I won't be returning the
nomination papers.

When you have closed the campaign account, you'll need to file a termination 410. Other than that, nothing. I'll still
keep reminding you of filing campaign report deadlines. Sheryll

else with you?

Thanks, Andrew. Once I receive your Form 501 we will need to correspond via email to an "election email," something
other than the City's email.
Thanks,

In case you're not aware, Jan Marx sent out a press release last night announcing her intent to run for re- election. (See
attached.) As a consequence, I've announced my intent as well. I was hoping we could wait on this, but I guess
not. Here's my public statement:
Jan Marx has announced her intent to run for mayor of the City of San Luis Obispo in the November
election. I'm happy to announce that I will be running as well.
In this election, voters will have the chance to decide who they want to lead City Hall. Given the
difficult economic times, it's a question of financial leadership. Who do voters want to manage the City
budget? Who do they trust with the spending of City tax dollars?
Based on my proven financial skills, my leadership in getting binding arbitration overturned in the City,
and my focus on controlling City costs, particularly pension costs, I believe the voters will choose me for mayor
instead of Jan.
We'll find out in November.

Hi Andrew,
I will be uploading your Disclosure Forms to the City's webpage but I would like to know what information you would
like /not like to have redacted. Typically, I would redact all personal information like home address, telephone number
and signature.
