It disheartens me to know that these proceedings have gone through the council while half of the city (the students of CalPoly) are not there to voice their opinions, YET AGAIN. I would extremely like to purport that these "problems" that the city deems worthy of a potential $1400 fine will NOT stop with the new regulations that will more than likely be passed on Tuesday. I know this for a fact since I have been told by countless law enforcement personnel and council members that an increase in fines and legal authority of the university police department will not prevent the fraternities from throwing their parties off campus. Which leads me to another point, this upcoming new law is directly targeted toward Greek Life, an action that stands as discrimination in my mind. Moreover, more people will be brutally attacked and arrested by the police department by extending the university polices jurisdiction. I have a number of testimonies of kids being viciously apprehended by the San Luis Obispo police which resulted in blood being drawn and permanent lasting scars, I being included. I believe the city is looking for more money, while CalPoly will be receiving more kickbacks to directly put into the administrations pockets, NOT THE SCHOOL OR FACULTY. This new enforcement being extended off campus not only will draw more of these types of incidences, but employ a textbook definition of a police state. My thoughts and faith, along with all my friends and peers, within the CalPoly and San Luis Obispo community rest on a single thread, and I'm afraid after Tuesday, it will be completely broken. I encourage a complete removal of this enforcement. - Stephen Yanik
