Dave -
We are still working on a lot of this and I won't be meeting with Bill until next
Tuesday to solidify our ideas, so I can only give you what I know at the moment. Our
theme is "support" and so far we will need one computer capable of accessing Novell
Applications in order to display the time card program and automatic personnel action
forms. If you need anything further, I can get back to you next Tuesday. Thanks!
-Jodi

Dear Innovations Fair Team Member:
Barbara Ehrbar
Gary Henderson
Jennifer Lawrence
Bob Neumann
Chris Slate
Jill Sylvain
A tad belated, but I want to add my voice to the chorus of kudos relative to the recent
Innovations Fair.
Over the years, whenever employees have been asked what they wish to know more about,
the answer has been amazingly consistent: Employees want to know more about what goes
on in other departments, and what fellow employees do. We have tried to meet this interest
in several ways (e.g., "rotating" newsletter articles), but have never been very successful.
Through the creativity of employees, the idea of the Innovations Fair was spawned and, in
my estimation, proved to be the best possible way of sharing our respective activities and
successes. Great job!
On a more personal note, I want you to know how proud I felt during my visit to all of the
booths and exhibits. The obvious talent and sophistication of City employees in every
department is most definitely not taken for granted by me. I am one lucky CAO!
I hope we are able to continue the Innovations Fair on some periodic schedule, and I assume
that the committee will discuss our options in some form of "post -event debriefing". During
this debriefing, I would appreciate your considering whether or not we should open the fair,
at least in some fashion, to the public. We have much to be proud of, and if even the CAO
can learn many new things through such an event, just imagine how educational the fair
would be for the public? (I realize that "burn -out" is always a possibility with such things,
and so I can appreciate that you might not want to make this an "annual" event.)
In closing, thank you once again for your contribution to a very successful event.
Sincerely yours,
AKen1H-1:a1ian
