I support Joe in his efforts. I am aware of some of the issues and you will hear them tonight from Joe. I would like to add that I think staff is often overzealous in interpreting various ordinances and too harsh in enforcement, while at other times too lax. You will probably hear stories from Joe about real problems that have gone unresponded to while this non - problem has gotten way too much attention and received unfair resolution. I am wondering where common sense and fairness come into play in these affairs. Sometimes in Iif e we have to say, 'what the hell, the rules be damned in this case' because they simply don't fit the parameters. I would have hoped Joe could benef it f rom that but instead he was denied a common sense resolution. It is often said we have too little housing, yet our 'authorities' have hounded many alternative housing opportunities because they didn't f it the modern, middle class or higher, ubc approved and establishment standards. Yet many of those housed are happy, saf e and contented with their accommodations. I bring this up because it is a parallel issue to that of simply housing one's property in a very neat and organized way on one's property. You have parking rules that are selectively applied to the populace. In fact it is commonly felt you cater to the wealthy and punish those at the lower rungs of society by overly strict application of all your expectations. Those with piles of cash can either easily comply with the myriad rules you keep piling up on us or wrangle around them somehow. If Joe were rich he could just buy the house next door, tear it down and park his boat there. Pete Evans "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
