ORDINANCE NO. 1. ( NEW SERIES)

An Ordinance Fixing the Amounts, Method of Approval and Conditions to
be Contained in the Official Bonds of the Chief officials of the City
of Sqn Luis Obispo.
BE it Ordained by hhe Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
Section 1. The Chief Officials hereinafter named shall respectively
before entering upon the duties of their office each execute a bond to
the City of San Luis Obispo in the following penal sums, to wit:
The City Treasurer in the penal sum of $12000.00
The City Attorney in the penal sum of $1000.00 4
The City Collector in the penal sum of $15000.00
The City Engineer in the penal sun of $2000.00
The Chief of Police in the penal sun of $2000.00
The Street Superintendent in the penal sum of $3000.00
The Fire Chief in the penal sun of $1000.00
Section 2. Each of said official bonds must be signed by the principal
furnishing the same, and by a surety company as sole surety, or by at
least two sureties, and every such bond shall contain the condition that
the rpincipal will well, truly, honestly and faithfully perform the duties
of his office required of him by law, the charter and ordinances of the
City of San Luis Obispo, including the duties of all offices of which _
Iv is ex- officio incumbent, and all duties of his office required by any
law or ordinance to be enacted subsequently to the execution of his bond.
Section 3. The bonds of the officials above named must be approved
by the Council of said City in -ythe manner in which other bonds are re-
quired to be approved by the Charter of said City, and shall be filed
with the City Clerk of said City,
Section 4. If in the opinion of the Council of said City the bond of
any of the above officials shall become insufficient from any cause he
shall be required by said Council by resolution to give any additional
bond within five days after due notice being given, and upon his failure

his office must be declared vacant.

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of cm-dinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance is hereby declared to be urgent, and neces-
sary to carry on the form of government provided by the Charter, and is
passed in order to establish and maintain without intermission an effect-
ive City government, and to immediately preserve the public peace, health
and safety, and shall take effect immediately after its final passage.
Section 7. This ordiance together with the ayes and noes shall be
passed to print and published for two days in the
a daily newspaper printed, published and
circulated in the City of San Luis Obispo.
