AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
ADDING SECTION 12.20.115 (CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL UNLAWFUL)
AND AMENDING SECTION 12.20.100 (DUTY TO LEAVE CLOSED
OR RESERVED AREAS) OF CHAPTER 12.20 (PARK
REGULATIONS) OF THE SAN LUIS OBISPO MUNICIPAL CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as
follows:
SECTION 1. Section 12.20.115 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code
is hereby added to read as follows:
12.20.115 Consumption of Alcohol Unlawful
Except as specifically provided herein, it shall be unlawful for any
person to consume any alcoholic beverage in the following parks or park
areas:
1. Mission Street and Vista del Lago Playlots
2. Throop Park
3. Santa Rosa Park; except for
(A) an activity conducted pursuant to a valid reservation for a group
barbeque area, and
(B) any portion of the park northeast of Barbeque Area #2.
4. Mission Plaza; except for special events specifically authorized and
scheduled by the director.
5. Mitchell Park; except for an activity conducted pursuant to a valid
reservation for the fenced courtyard area adjacent to the Senior
Center.
6. Johnson Playground; except for activities conducted pursuant to a
valid reservation.
7. San Luis Obispo Swim Center.
8. Meadow Park; except for an activity conducted pursuant to a valid
reservation.
9. Laguna Lake Municipal Golf Course; except for activities conducted
pursuant to a valid reservation for the clubhouse barbeque area.
10. In or close proximity to any public restroom facility; except for an
activity conducted pursuant to a valid reservation for a single
purpose activity area which is capable of being closed to the general
public.
SECTION 2. Section 12.20.100 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
12.20.100 Duty to Leave Closed or Reserved Areas
A. It shall be the duty of all persons to leave a park area for which a valid

reservation or permit has been issued to any other person or group, or
which has been closed by the director under Section 12.20.045, whenever
directed to do so by the permittee or by authorized police or park
personnel.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be
published once in full, at least three (3) days prior to its final passage
in the Telegram- Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said
City, and the same shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty (30)
days after its said final passage.

of Councilman Griffin
