ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AMENDING TITLE TEN, SECTION 10.40.060 OF THE SAN LUIS OBISPO
MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROHIBIT PARKING OTHER THAN WITHIN MARKED
SPACES ON CITY STREETS; PROVIDING FOR THE INCLUSION OF A
PROHIBITION AGAINST PARKING OTHER THAN WITHIN MARKED
SPACES IN CITY PARKING LOTS.
SECTION 1. Section Number 10.40.060 of Title Ten (10) of the San Luis
Obispo Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: TITLE 10, SECTION
10.40.060 - STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING RESTRICTED OR PROHIBITED IN CERTAIN
AREAS, PARKING SPACE MARKINGS.
A. The city traffic engineer is authorized to install and maintain parking
space markings to indicate parking spaces adjacent to curbings on city streets
and in municipal parking lots where authorized parking is permitted.
B. When such parking space markings are placed on the highway or in a
municipal parking lot, subject to other and more restrictive limitations, no
vehicle shall be stopped, left standing or parked other than within a single
space, unless the size or shape of such vehicle makes compliance impossible.

SECTION 2. This ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be
published once in full at least three (3) days prior to its final passage, in
the Telegram- Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, and
the same shall go into effect thirty (30) days after its passage.

Obispo at a meeting held on the 19th day of August 1986, on motion

following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Settle, Rappa, Dovey and Mayor Dunin
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Griffin
