ORDINANCE NO. 219 (New Series)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 75 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 76 (NEW SERIES) RELATING TO SHOWS AND EX-
HIBITIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 75 of Ordinance No. 76 (New Series)
entitled, "An Ordinance Licensing and Regulating the Doing of Certain
Acts and the Carrying on of Certain Trades, Callings, Business, Pro-
fessions and Occupations Within the Corporate Limits of the City of
San Luis Obispo, California, and Prescribing Penalties for the Viola-
tion thereof ", is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 75. For the business of carrying on and conducting
a permanently established theater or motion picture show at a fixed
place of business in said city, a license fee shall be paid as follows:
(a) For less than one month, $3.00 for eagh performance or
exhibition.
(b) For one month $25.00.
(c) For three months, $40.00.
(d) For one year, $75.00.
For every dog show or similar show, other than a circus or
menagerie, a license fee of $_L:_0_0 per day shall be paid.
For every carnival company or aggregation of tent shows or
other amusement devices under one management or control, a license
fee of $50.00 per day shall be paid.
For every show conducted and carried on in a tent, where
only stage plays and vaudeville acts are presented, and where there
is no side show or after show, and where there are no amusement devices,
games nor sales of merchandise operated in connection with such tent
show, a license fee of $10.00 per day or,$50.00 per week shall be paid.
For every show conducted and carried on in a tent where any
side show or after show is presented, or where there are other amuse-

ment devices, games or sales of merchandise operated in connection
with such tent show, a license fee of $50.00 per day shall be paid.
For other theatrical entertainments, shows or exhibitions,
except a circus or menagerie,. a license fee of 25.00 per day
shall be paid.
Nothing in this section contained shall be construed to
prevent exhibitions or entertainments wholly for the benefit of
churches or schools or other charitable or private social entertain-
ments, for any benevolent, religious or literary, society of the city
without a license therefor. None of the aforesaid provisions of this
section shall apply to any entertainment, show or exhibition which
shall be in good faith guaranteed against financial loss on account
of such exhibition, entertainment or show in this city, by not less
than fifty actual residents of said city, and any such show, enter-
tairiment or exhibition, shall pay the same license fee as is in this
section provided to be paid for the business of carrying on and con-
ducting a permanently established theater at a -fixed place of busi-
ness in said city.
SECTION 2, This ordinance, together with the ayes and noes
shall be published for two days before its final - passage in the Tele-
gram- Tribune, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in
said city and the same shall take effect thirty days from and after
its final passage.,
