AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE SALE AND REGULATING
THE DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS AND OTHER PYROTECHNIC
DISPLAYS IN THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo, as follows:
Section 1. It is hereby made unlawful to discharge or use
within said City and firecrackers, sky rockets, torpedoes, Roman
candles, fire balloons, and any and all other fireworks or sub-
stances designed or intended for pyrotechnic display, and all
pistols, canes, cannons and other appliances using blank cart-
ridges, or caps containing chlorate or potash mixture. Pro-
vided, however, that this ordinance shall not be so construed
as to prohibit any public pyrotechnic display, and the use for
such purpose, or any and all of such things at such times and
places as the Council may direct or permit under the supervision
of the Chief of the Fire Department of said City.
Section 2. It is hereby made unlawful to sell or expose
for sale within said City any of the things mentioned in Section
1 hereof.
Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $300.00,
or by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or by both such fine
and imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordinance, together with the Ayes and Noes,
shall be published for two days before its final passage in the
Telegram- Tribune, a daily newspaper printed,-published and cir-
culated in said City, and the same shall take effect and be in
force thirty days after its final passage.
