AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1964 EDITION OF
THE UNIFORM HEATING & COMFORT COOLING
CODE, WITH AMENDMENTS THERETO
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo that:
SECTION ONE. That the following Sections shall be and are hereby added to the
San Luis Obispo Municipal Code, to read as follows:
ARTICLE VIII - BUILDING REGULATIONS
Chapter 4 - HEATING & COMFORT COOLING
CODE
Section 8400. Uniform Heating and Comfort Cooling Code. Adopted.
The Uniform Heating & Comfort Cooling Code, 1964 Edition, and appendices,
three (3) copies of which are on file and may be identified by the Seal of the City appearing
thereon, with the City Clerk, is hereby adopted by reference as the Heating and Comfort Cool -
ing Code of the City of San Luis Obispo, except as amended by the provisions of this Chapter.
Section 8400.1 .Amendments.
The following sections of the Uniform Heating & Comfort Cooling Code, 1964
Edition, are amended as follows:
Section 1.1: Insert "Department of Planning and Building" in the space
provided.
Sections 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4: Delete.
Section 1.11: Amend Paragraph 3 to read as follows:
If work for which a permit is required under this Code is begun without a
permit, the work shall stop upon notification by the Department of Planning and
Building. No permit shall be issued in such cases without a special investigation
and the payment of a special fee, in addition to the double fee set forth in this
Section , to be determined by the following schedule:
Normal Fee Special Investigation Fee
$10 or less $10.00
$10 to $15 15.00
$15 to $20 20.00
Over $20 25.00
Each person who begins such work without first obtaining a permit shall,
if subsequently permitted to obtain a permit, pay double the permit fee fixed by
this section for such work, with an additional special investigation fee as set
forth hereinabwe. Payment of these fees shall not relieve any person from fully
complying with the requirements of this Heating and Comfort Cooling Code, nor
from any penalty set forth in this Section. No permit shall be issued unless all
fees due are paid, provided, however, that this provision shall not apply to
emergency work when it shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Department of
Planning and Building that such work was urgently necessary and that it was not
practical to obtain a permit therefor before the commencement of the work. In
all such cases a permit must be obtained as soon as it is practical to do so
without unreasonable delay.

Adoption of Uniform Heating and Comfort Cooling Code, 1964 Edition
SECTION TCVO. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published
once in full, at least three days before its final passage, in the Telegram- Tribune, a news-
paper published and circulated in said City, and the same shall go into effect at the expiration
of thirty days after its final passage.
