AN ORDINANCE REGULATING VEHICLES ILLEGALLY
PARKED ON PRIVATE OR PUBLIC PROPERTY IN THE
CITY OF SAN LUIS 'OBISPO
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 4220.4 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 4220.4. Same. Citation for Vehicle Illegally Parked on
Private Property or in Restricted Public Parking Lots.

Any regularly employed and salaried Officer of the Police Depart -
ment may issue a Notice of Violation or Citation to the owner or driver
of any motor vehicle that has been parked or left standing on any private
property, driveway, private parking lot, or property used for private
parking purposes, in violation of Section 4220.3 or in restricted public
parking lots in violation of Section 4220.10. The provisions of Section
41103 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California. shall be applicable in
determining responsibility and establishing the procedure for issuing
such notices or citations.
SECTION 2. That Section 4220.5 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 4220.5. Same. Removal of Vehicle Illegally Parked on Private
Property or in Restricted Public Parking Lots.
Any regularly employed and salaried Officer of the Police Depart-
ment, the owner of any private property, or the person then entitled to the
possession thereof, or their authorized agents, may remove any motor
vehicle that has been parked or left standing on any private property,
driveway, private parking lot or property used for private parking pur-
poses, in violation of Section 4220.3 or in restricted public parking lots
in violation of Section 4220.10.
SECTION 3. That Section 4220.8 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 4220.8. Same. Notice to Owner of Removed Vehicle.
Any person referred to in Section 4220.5 who removes a vehicle
from private property or from restricted public parking lots shall give
notice to the owner of the motor vehicle as provided for and required by
Section 22852 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California.
SECTION 4. That Section 4220.9 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 4220.9. Same. Garage Keeper's Lien.
The keeper of any garage in which any vehicle is stored in accord-
ance with the provisions of this Part and the related provisions of the
Vehicle Code of the State of California shall have a lien thereon as pro-
vided in Section 22851 of said Vehicle Code for his compensation for towage,
and for caring for and keeping safe such vehicle, and may, after giving
the notices required by Sections 3071 and 3072 of the Civil Code, satisfy
such lien upon compliance with and under the conditions stated in Section
3073 of the Civil Code or Section 22705 of the Vehicle Code of the State
of California.

SECTION 5. That Section 4220.10 be added to Part IV, Chapter II, Part 2 of the San
Luis Obispo Municipal Code, to read as follows:
Section 4220.10. Restricted Parking in Certain City Parking Lots.
No person shall stop, stand, park or leave standing a motor vehicle
in any City Parking Lot where vehicular parking has been restricted by a
Resolution duly adopted by the City Council, provided that signs specifying
the restrictions, or conditions under which parking is permitted, shall have
been posted at all entrances to such property. Such signs shall be approved
both as to wording and posting by the Chief of Police.
SECTION 6. That this Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published
once in full, at least three days before its final passage, in the Telegram- Tribune, a neurs-
paper published and circulated in said City, and the same shall go into effect at the expiration
of thirty (30) days after its said final passage.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the City Council of the City of
San Luis Obispo at a Regular Meeting of said City Council held on the 5th day of December,
1966, on motion of Councilman Gallagher , seconded by Councilman
Miller , and on the following roll call vote:
