AN ORDINANCE ADENDING ORDINANCE NO. 292 (NEEW SERIES)
ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE , RESTRICT AND
SEGREGATE THE LOCATION OF INDUSTRIES, BUSITZSS,
TRADES, APARTT!1ENTS , DWELLINGS AND OTHER SPECIFIED
USES; TO REGULATE AND LIMIT THE HEIGHT AND SIZE OF
BUILDINGS HEREA.FITER ERECTED; TO REGULATE AND DETER -
MITTE THE AREA OF YARDS AND OTHER OPEN SPACES; FOR,
SAID PURPOSES TO DIVIDE THE' CITY INTO DISTRICTS OR
ZONES; TO ESTABLISH A BOARD OF ADZTUSTT�UINT; TO DEFINE
THE TERMS USED HEREIN; TO PROVIDE FOR ENFORCETTERIT
AND PRESCRIBE PENALTIES FOR TNT VIOLATION OF ITS PRO -
VISIONS; AND TO REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES" BY
ADDING THERETO A NEW ACTION TO BE DESIGNATED SECTION

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo
as follows:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 292 (New Series) , entitled as above,
is hereby amended by adding thereto •a-new section reading as follows:
Section 3c. DISTRICTS. In order to regulate and restrict the
location of trades and industries and the location of buildings
erected or altered for specified uses, to regulate and limit the
height and size of buildings hereafter erected or altered, and to
regulate and determine the irea of yards and other open spaces, the
annexed territory known as "The Ferrini Addition ", is hereby classi-
fied into districts, of which there sha11,be six (6) known as:
R -1 Residence District (One- Family)
R -2 Residence District (Two - Family)
R -3 Residence District (TAultiple- Family)
C -1 Commercial District (Local)
C -2 Commercial District (General)
M -1 Manufacturing District
The districts aforesaid, and the boundaries of such districts,
are shown upon the map attached hereto and made a part of this
ordinance, being designated as "THIRD ADDITION OF NEW AM'=ED TERRI-
TORY TO DISTRICT 14AP OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO CITY PLANNING
CM01ISSION LAND USE MA.P", and said map, and all notations, references

and other information shown thereon shall be as much a part of this
ordinance as if the matters and information set forth by said map
were fully described herein.
,In accordance with the provisions of the Annexation of the
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, as amended, all of the provi-
sions of Ordinance No. 292 (Neer Series), entitled as above, includ-
ing ordinances amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto, shall
apply to and operate in said annexed territory, and said Ordinance
No. 292 (New Series), as amended and as now in effect, is hereby
adopted by reference as a part of this ordinance, and incorporated
herein the same as though fully set forth.
Except as otherwise provided in said Ordinance No. 292 (New
Series) :
First: hJo building shall be erected, reconstructed or struct-
urally altered nor shall any building or land be used for any pur-
pose other than is permitted in the district in which such building
or land is located.
Second: No building shall be erected, reconstructed or struct-
urally altered to exceed the height or size limit herein established
for the district in which such building is located.
Third: No lot area shall be so reduced or diminished that the
yards or other open spaces shall be smaller than prescribed by this
ordinance.
Fourth: No yard or other open space provided about any build-
ing for the purpose of complying with the provisions of these
regulations shall be considered as providing a yard or open space
for any other building, provided further that no yard or open space
or an adjoining property shall be considered as providing a yard or
open space on a lot whereon a building is to be erected.
Fifth: Every building hereafter erected shall be located on a
lot as herein defined and in no case shall there be more than one
dwelling on one lot except as hereinafter provided.

SECTION 2. This ordinance, together with the Ayes and Noes,
shall be published for two days before its final passage in the
Telegram- Tribune, a daily newspaper printed, published and circu-
lated in said City, and the same shall take effect and be in force
thirty days after its final passage.
