OF THE COUNTY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AND ` EPEALING ALL OF DINANCES 01 PAY TS OF O_ DINANCES IN CONFLICT HER EWITH W H E F E A S , the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo a Charter City of the State of California desires to traznsfer the assessment and tax collection duties currently being performed by the City Clerk- Assessor to the Assessor and Tax Collector of the County of San Luis Obispo; and WHEF EAS, the County of San Luis Obispo has heretofore expressed a willing- ness to ha• -.ie itsAssessor and Tax Collector assun:�e such duties on the same. basis that other cities in the County have pre,,Tiously transferred such functions. NOW, THEI EFOF E, BE IT OF`.DAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION I. DEFINITIONS: The following words and expressions when used in this Ordinance shall for the purpose of this Ordinance ha -%e the meanings set forth below: (a) City: The word 'City' shall mean the City of San Luis Obispo, a Charter City, situated in the County of San Luis Cbispo, State of California. (b) County: The word 'County' shall mean the County of San Luis Obispo, a political subdivision and one of the counties of the State of California. SECTION 2. Transfer of Duties: Pursuant to Sections 51500 through 51521 of the Government Code of the State of California and Section 903 of the City Charter the assessment and tax collection function and the duties inherent therein,, and the collection of assessments levied for municipal improvements or other municipal purposes, now performed by the City Clerk- Assessor of the City, are hereby transferred to the Assessor and the Tax Collector of the County for the purpose of assessment and collection of and for ad volorem property taxes that become a lien after the effective date of this Ordinance and the collection of assessments for municipal improvements or other municipal purposes becoming due and payable on and after July 1, 1968. SECTION 3, This Ordinance shall not become operative until No- iember 1, 1967, and prior thereto the City Council of this City shall enter into a contact with the - -3 4�- i County whereby the concerned county offices will perform all functions incident to the assessment and collection of city taxes as authorized by this Ordinance, provided, that if this City shall not have contracted with the said County as above set forth, prior to November 1, 1967, this Ordinance shall not be operative until the first day of the first calendar month following the execution of such a contract by the City and the County, as approved by the City Council of said City and the Board of Super'Asors of said County SECTION 4..epeal: As provided in Chapter 903 of the Charter, this Ordinance may be repealed in the same manner as it has been adopted but its provisions shall remain in full force and effect until the effective date of such repealing ordinance. All ordinances or parts of ordinances currently in effect in the City which are in conflict with any provision hereof are hereby repealed. SECTION 5, riling of Certified Copy: The City Clerk shall cause a certified COPY of this Ordinance to be served on the County Auditor, the County Assessor and the County Tax Collector on or before the First Monday of February 1968, and immediately thereafter the City Clerk shall notify the State Board of Equalization of the transfer of the assessment and tax collection functions. SECTION 6, This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published once, in the Telegram - Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, at least three days before its final passage, and the same shall go into effect on the date set forth herein.
