AN ORDINANCE AMiENDING THE I%iiUNICIPAL
CODE TG ADD CERTAIN SPECIAL SPEED ZONES
AND IVIODIFY SPEED LIMiITS PREVIOUSLY
ESTABLISHED
BE IT OF%DAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 3215 of the San Luis Obispo Municipal Code
shall be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3215 INfiodifying the State Speed Limit on Certain
Streets or Portions Thereof.
It is hereby determined upon the basis of.an engineering and
traffic investi;ation that the speed otherwise permitted by
state law upon the following streets does not fall within
reasonable or safe limits under the conditions found to exist
upon such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima
facie speed lirnit shall be as herein set forth on those streets
or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected
giving notice thereof:

SECTION 2. That Section 3215.1 of the San
Luis Obispo Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 32 15. 1 Regulation of Speed by Traffic Signals.
Upon prior approval of the City Council, the City Engineer
is authorized to regulate the timing of traffic signals so as
to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly and safe
manner at speeds slightly at variance from the speeds
otherwise applicable within the district or at intersections,
and may erect appropriate signs giving notice thereof.

SECTION 3. That Section 3215.2 and Section 3215.3 of the San Luis
Obispo Municipal Code shall be and are hereby repealed and deleted in their entirety.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall
be published once in full, at least three (3) days before its final passage in the
Telegram - Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, and the
same shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty days after said final passage.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of
San Luis Obispo at a Regular IVeeting held thereof on the 4th day of December 1967
on motion of Councilman Councilman Blake, seconded by Councilman Spring
and on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Emmons Blake, Frank Gallagher, Arthur F. Spring,
Donald Q. Miller, Clell W. Whelchel
