AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE
ALL UTILITIES WITHIN FUTURE RESIDENTIAL OR COMMERCIAL SUB-
DIVISIONS TO BE INSTALLED UNDERGROUND.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 9100.3 of the Subdivision Ordinance be amended
to include Subsection 9100.3 -11 which reads as follows:
"All utility distribution facilities (including but not limited to electric,
communication and cable television lines) installed in and for the purpose of
supplying service to any residential (or commercial) subdivision shall be placed
underground, except as follows: Equipment appurtenant to underground facilities,
such as surface mounted transformers, pedestal mounted terminal boxes and meter
cabinets, and concealed ducts. The subdivider is responsible for complying with
the requirements of this Section, and shall make the necessary arrangements with
the utility companies involved for the installation of said facilities. The
Planning Commission may waive the requirements of this Section if topographical,
soil, or any other condiditons make underground installation of said facilities
unreasonable or impractical. Industrial subdivisions are excluded from the
provisions of this Section."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be
published once in full, at least three days prior to its final passage, in the
Telegram- Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said City, and the
same shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty days after its said
final passage.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo at a Regular Meeting held thereof on the 17th day of February, 1969,
on motion of Councilman Blake, seconded by Councilman Miller, and on the
following roll call vote:.
AYES: Councilmen Blake, Miller, Spring, Gallagher 6 Mayor Whelchel
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
