AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE E,XE1ViPTING CERTAIN
VEHICLES FROM THE MAXIIViUAr1 GROSS WEIGHT LIMITS
ON CERTAIN STREETS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 3212.6 is hereby added to the San Luis Obispo Municipal
Code to read as follows:
Section 3212.6 - Vehicles Exempt from Gross Weight Limits
In addition to those vehicles specifically excepted by virtue of the language of
Section 3212. 5, the following classes of vehicles are exempt from the gross weight limits
imposed by the preceding section:
(a) Vehicles making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise
from residential buildings or structures located on such restricted streets,
including those delivering materials to be used in the repair, alteration,
remodeling or construction of any residential building or structure to be
erected on a lot having frontage on such restricted streets.
, (b) Any vehicle owned or operated by or for the benefit of any public utility
for the use in the construction, installation, maintenance or repair of any
public utility facility or any other public utility purpose.
(c) Any contractor or materialman performing work for or furnishing materials
to the City of San Luis Obispo while engaged in the repair, maintenance or
construction of streets, street utilities or other street improvements within
the City.
(d) Any authorized emergency vehicle .
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall go into effect immediately as an emergency
Ordinance because the weight restrictions imposed by Section 3212.5 of the San Luis
Obispo Municipal Code would otherwise interfere with maintenance of public utility lines,
routine deliveries to residences in the area and emergency vehicles and the Council hereby
determines that interference with such activities constitutes a threat to the peace, safety
and welfare of the citizens of the City residing on the affected streets.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published
once in full in the Telegram Tribune, a newspaper published and circulated in said City.

Obispo at an Adjourned Meeting held thereof on the 14th day of April, 1969, on motion
of Councilman Blake, seconded by Councilman Miller, and on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmen Blake, Gallagher, Miller., Spring and Mayor Whelchel
