AN ORDINANCE AIdiENDING THE. ZONRT G ORDINANCE TO REDUCE
PARKING REQUIRE1.]ENTS FOR STUDIO APARTMENTS AND ELDERLY
HOUSING AND INCLUDING A DEFINITION OF S'T'UDIO APART I NT.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. That Sections 9200.28, 9200.29, 9200.31 and 9200.33 be amended
to read as follows:
" 1 1/2 space for the first bedroom or sleeping room and 1/2 space
for each additional bedroom or sleeping room except:that for housing for
the elderly there may be 1 space for each unit in accordance with Note 13,
Notes on Zone Charts; for studio apartments there shall be 1 parking
space for each unit. "
SECTION 2. That Section 9200.1 (Definitions) be amended to include the
definition of studio apartment to read as follows:
"A studio apartment shall mean an efficiency unit designed to house not
more than two persons. Said units shall have not more than 275 sq. ft.
of superficial floor area and shall meet the requirements of Section II- 503(b)
of the Uniform Building Code, Vol. III. "
SECTION 3. That Section 9200.26 (Notes on Zone Charts) be amended to read
as follows:
"Note 13. Upon use permit approval by the Board of Adjustments, the parking
requirement for housing of the elderly may be reduced to 1 parking space
per unit. For the purposes of this section, housing for elderly persons
is a residential unit containing not more than 1 bedroom, specifically
designed for the use and occupancy of single persons 62 years of age or
over, or a married couple, one of which is 62 years of age or over. "
SECTION 4. That Section 9200.17 F.2 which defines the powers of the Board of
Adjustments be amended to include use permits for 'dousing of the elderly. "
SECTIONS. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published
once in full, at least three days prior to its final passage, in the Telegram- Tribune, a
newspaper published and circulated in said City, and the same shall go into effect at the
expiration of thirty days after its said final passage.

INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo at a Regular Meeting held thereof on the 1st day of March, 1971 on motion
of Councilman Blake, seconded by Councilman Springy, and on the following roll call
vote;
AYES: Councilmen Blake, Graham, NIiller, Spring and Mayor Schwartz
