AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE THAT
SIGNS ERECTED, EXISTI14G OR MAINTAINED IN
VIOLATION OF PROVISIONS OF THE SIGN ORDINANCE
ARE PUBLIC NUISANCES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. The Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding Section 8600.17 to the Sign Ordinance as follows:
Section 8600.17. Violations Are Public Nuisances.
Any sign erected, existing,or maintained in
violation of the provisions of this ordinance is
hereby declared to be a public nuisance. In any
nuisance abatement proceeding instituted by the City
for the removal of any such sign, notice of the public
hearing thereon shall be given as provided in Municipal
Code Section 4400.5 to any person shown in the City's
business license records as having an interest in said
sign. Said notice shall be in addition to the posting
of the premises and the mailing of notice to the
owners of the premises involved.
The provisions hereof shall be in addition to and
completely separate from any penal provisions which may
be provided elsewhere in this code for signs in violation
of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and
noes, shall be published once in full, at least three days
prior to its final passage, in the Telegram- Tribune, a news-
paper published and circulated in said City, and the same

shall go into effect at the expiration of thirty days after
its said final passage.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT.by the Council of the City
of San Luis Obispo at an adjourned meeting thereof held on the
6th day of August, 1974. on motion of Councilman Graham,
seconded by Councilman Brown, and on the following roll call
vote:
AYES: Councilmen Brown, Graham, Gurnee, Mayor Schwartz
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Norris

ri1MDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THL EXHIBIT A
BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM
AND THE
CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
The Board of Administration, Public Employees' Retirement System, hereinafter
referred to as Board and the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO, herein-
after referred to as Public Agency having entered into a contract under date of
June 9, 1952, effective July 1, 1952, as amended effective July 1, 1952, October
19 1962, and October 3, 1963, and as provided by Chapters 170 and 316, Statutes
of 1971, which provide for participation of Public Agency in said System, Board
and Public Agency hereby agree as follows:
A. Paragraphs 1 through 10 are hereby stricken from said contract as executed
effective July 1, 1952, and are hereby replaced by the following paragraphs
numbered 1 through 9 inclusive:
1. All words and terms used herein which are defined in the Public Employ-
ees' Retirement Law shall have the meaning as defined therein unless
otherwise specifically provided. "Normal retirement age" shall mean
age 60 for miscellaneous members and age 55 for local safety members.
2. Public Agency shall participate.in the Public Employees' Retirement
System from and after July 1, 1952, making its employees as herein-
after provided, members of said System subject to all provisions of
the Public Employees' Retirement Law except such as apply only on elec-
tion of a contracting agency and are not provided for herein and to all
amendments to said Law hereafter enacted except such as by express pro-
vision thereof apply only on the election of contracting agencies.
3.. Employees of Public Agency in the following classes shall become members
of said Retirement System except such in each such class as are excluded
by law or this agreement: '
a. Local firemen (herein referred to as local safety members);
b. Local policemen (herein referred to as local safety members);
c. Employees other than local safety members (herein referred to as
miscellaneous members).
The following employees shall be excluded from membership in said
Retirement System:

4. The fraction of final compensation to be provided for each year of
credited prior and current service as a miscellaneous member shall
be that provided in Section 21251.13 of said Retirement Law.
