HomeMy WebLinkAbout0647• 1 ORDINANCE NO. 647 (1975 Series) ' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AMENDING THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE TO PROHIBIT VEHICLE PARKING IN DESIGNATED AREAS OF PRIVATE PROPERTY AND TO AUTHORIZE REMOVAL OF VEHICLES IN VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as follows: SECTION 1. Subsection 3120.4.6 of the Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 13.206 (b) UFC: (a) No person shall place or keep any post, fence, growth, trash or other material or thing near any fire hydrant that would prevent such hydrant from being immediately discernible or in any manner deter or hinder the Fire Department from gaining immediate access to a fire hydrant. (b) Fire hydrants on private property shall have no parking zones identified by a red painted curb, berm., or stripe at least eight inches wide and fifteen feet long. Readily legible, permanent, all - weather signs shall be conspicuously posted with a minimum lettering of two inches by 1/4 inch stroke to read: "VEHICLES.IN RED NO PARKING ZONES SHALL BE TOWED AWAY AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. 3120.4.5.1 MC, 13.103 UFC, Police Department Phone 544 -5151, Fire Department Phone 543 - 6046." 0 647 r`. Subsection 3120.4.8 of the Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 13.209 UFC: BUILDING ACCESS (a) At least one exterior wall and a portion of the roof of all buildings other than dwellings.shall be within the designed reach limitations of the aerial ladder apparatus as it is parked on the closest public street or approved emergency access driveway. (b) Approved emergency access driveways (see 13.209 a and 13.301 c) shall conform to Appendix H. (c) Where auxiliary means of access or fire protective measures approved by the Chief are provided, the above required access may be modified or waived. (d) The owner, or individual in control of emergency access roadways and streets in private developments shall conspicously post legible permanent all- weather signs with a minimum lettering of two inches by 1/4 inch stroke at locations as required by the Fire Department to comply with the access provisions of Appendix H. Signs are to read: "VEHICLES IN NO PARKING ZONES MAY BE TOWED AWAY AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. 3120.4.5.1 MC, 13.103 UFC, Police Department Phone 544 -5151, Fire Department Phone 543 - 6046." Ordinance No. 647 3 X975 Series) SECTION 3. Subsection 3120.4.5.1 of the.Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 13.103 UFC: AUTHORITY TO REMOVE VEHICLES Section 13.103. The Chief and his authorized repre- sentatives shall have the power and authority to remove. or cause to be removed, without notice, any vehicle, vessel, or thing parked or placed in violation of Sections 13.208, and 13.209 UFC. The owner of any item so removed shall be responsible for all towing, storage, and other charges .connected therewith. SECTION 4. This Ordinance, together with the ayes and noes, shall be published once in full, at least three days prior to its final passage, in the Telegram- Tribune., a news- paper published and circulated in said.City, and the same shall go into.effect at the expiration of thirty days after its said final passage.
