CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION AND Sj BL01ITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
OF THE CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO THE PROPOSITION OF INCURRING A DEBT
AND BONDING SAID CITY FOR CERTAIN 1,'MNICIPAL I11'ROVE1ENTS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of can Luis
Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. A special municipal election is hereby called
and the proposition of incurring a debt of said city in the amount
and for the purposes hereinafter set forth is submitted
and at said election will be submitted to the qualified voters
of said city.
SECTION 2. The objects and purposes for which said indebt-
edness is proposed to be incurred, "and the estimated cost of the
proposed improvements are as follows, to wit: -
(A)
SEPTIC TANK
The construction of a septic tank to be built at and on
that certain real property belonging to said city and known as and
called The City Sewer Disposal Grounds. The estimated cost thereof
being 4?15,000.00.
(B)

The extension and completion of the present sewer system of
said city, by the construction of new sewers upon the following streets
and places within said city: On TTurray Street from Hathway Avenue
490 feet westerly; on Montalban Street from Santa Rosa Street to Toro
Street; on Olive Street from Santa Rosa Street to Toro Street;- on
Peach Street from Osos Street to T��or'ro Street; on Peach Street from
Ida Street to Grove Street; on Peach - 'treet from Grove Street 341 feet
easterly; on Tjill Street from Grove Street to Grand Avenue; on Palm
Street from OSOS Street to T.,orro Street; en Ella Street from Ruth Street.
to county sewer line; on Leff Street from Santa Roaa'Street to Southern
Pacific rir�ht -of -way ; on Hathway Avenue from present

terminus of sewer line to Dlurray Street; on Toro Street from
iiiIontalban Street to Olive Street; on Osos Street from Palm
Street to Mill Street; on Grand Avenue from Mill Street northerly
320 feet; on Grove Street from Mill Street to Peach Street;
across Block 137 of said city from Ilill Street to Palm Street;
on 11orro Street; -from Mill Street to Sycamore Street; on Ida
Street from 1:611 Street to Peach Street; on Rachel Street
from Osos Street to High Street; on Higuera Street from Santa
Rosa Street to Toro Street; across Block 12 of Buena Vista
tract of said city from Rachel Street to Swazey Street; on
�,Ionterey Street from Grove Street easterly 1300 feet; on
Essex Street from Buchon Street to Munoz Street; on 11unoz
Street from Essex Street to Johnson Street; on Johnson Street
-from P:Tunnz Street to Ella Street. The estimated cost being 20,000.

The erection and construction of new concrete
culverts in said. city, as follows:- one on High Street be-
tween ?Wing Street and Hutton Street; one on Sandercock
Street between Ping Street.and Hutton Street; one on Branch
Street between King Street and Hutton Street; one on South
Street between Harris Street and Hutton Street; one on Palm
Street at its intersection with Grove Street; one on Santa
Rosa Street at its intersection with Leff Street; and one on
Nipomo Street between Church Street and Leff Street.
The estimated cost thereof being'$8,500.00.

FIRE APPARATUS
The extension and completion of the present fire
apparatus of said city by the purchase and installation of five

fire alarm boxes, necessary wire and a fire alarm transmitter;
by the purchase and installation of ten fire hydrants; and by
the purchase of an auxiliary fire engine. The estimated cost
thereof being X10,000.00

BRIDGES
The erection and construction of three reinforced
concrete bridges in said city, as follows: One over Stenner
Creek on Villa Street between Nipomo Street and Brizzolara
Street; one over San Luis Obispo Creek on Chorro Street between
11onterey Street and Higuera Street; and one.over San Luis Obispo
Creek on 1,lorro Street between 1onterey Street and Higuera Street.
The estimated cost thereof being $15,000.00
SECTION 3. By resolution regularly d,dopted at a
previous meeting of this council by favorable vote of over
two thirds of all the members of the Council it was determined
and declared that all of the improvements mentioned in SECTION
2 of this ordinance are demanded by the public interest and by
the public necessity; that the estimated cost thereof is as
set forth in said SECTION 2; and that the cost of said improve-
ments and of each thereof is too great to be paid out of the
ordinary annual income and revenue of said city.
SECTION 4. The amount of the principal of the indebted -
nesses proposed to be incurred is $68,500.00 and the rate of
interest to be paid on said indebtedness is five per centum
per annum, payable semi - annually, both principal and interest
payable in gold coin of the United States of America.
SECTION 5. The manner of holding said election shall
be as follows
1. As provided for in this Ordinance.
2. As provided by law for holding; elections of the

kind herein called in said City.
Tickets must be of ordinary election ticket paper
and such size and shape as to contain the proposition to be
submitted at the election hereby called. The heading of such
tickets must be, "Special Municipal Election, City of San Luis
Obispo ". The proposition to be submitted at said election must
be printed on such tickets as follows:

Said words "Yes" and "No" shall be opposite each of
said propositions and in separate lines and opposite each of said
words "Yes" and "No" there shall be a voting square.
Each voter shall indicate his wish to vote in favor
of a proposition by stamping or causing to be stamped a cross
(X) in the voting square opposite the word "Yes" and shall indicate
his wish to vote against the proposition by stamping or causing
to be stamped a cross (X) in the voting square opposite the word
"No".

The following shall be printed at the top of the fade
of the ticket:
'tINSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS:
To vote in favor of the proposition stamp a cross (X)
in the voting square opposite the word 'Yes'.
To vote against the proposition stamp a cross (X) in
the voting square opposite the word "no,!,
All marks except the cross (X) are forbidden.
All distinguishing marks or erasures are forbidden
and makie the ballot void.
If you wrongly stamp, tear o-ff deface this ballot,
return it to the Inspector of Election, and obtain another."
SECTION 6. Said election is hereby called for and. shall
be held on the E.ift day of Islay, 1922, in said City of San Luis
Obispo, and notice thereof is hereby given.
SECTION 7. For the purpose.of said election said city
is divided into Two precincts, as follows:
All that portion of the City of San Luis Obispo comprising
general election precincts numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 as established
by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis Obispo in
said city for the holding of the last preceding general State
Election shall be and are consolidated.and known as Consolidated
Precinct Number 1.
All that portion of the City of Sari Luis Obispo
comprisisng general election precincts numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
and 10 as established by the Board of supervisors of the County
of San Luis Obispo in said City for "the holding of the last
preceding general State Election shell be and are consolidated
and known as Consolidated Precinct Number 2.
SECTION 8. The voting place of Consolidated Precinct
Number 1 is the fission Hall on rrionterey Street in.said city

and the following Board of Election is appointed for said Consoli-

SECTION 9. This ordinance is hereby declared to be urgent
and immediately nece4sary to the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety and shall take effect from and after
its final passage.
SECTION 10. This ordinance, together with the kyes and
Noes, shall be published for two days in the "Morning Tribune" a
newspaper printed, published and circulated. in said City, before its
final passage, and shall thereafter be published once a day for at
least seven days before said election in said "Morning Tribune" a
daily newspaper printed, published and circulated at least six days
a week in said City.
