ORDINANCE NO. 841 (1980 series)
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN LUIS OBISPO AMENDING THE DOWNTOWN HOUSING
CONVERSION MORATORIUM TO DELETE SINGLE FAMILY
HOMES
WHEREAS on October 16, 1979, this Council adopted Ordinance No.
821 , a copy of which is attached hereto, establishing a moratorium on the
conversion of housing in a designated area of the downtown; and
WHEREAS the intent of ordinance was to protect downtown residents, many
of whom are low - income, from displacement; and
WHEREAS this expressed intent�bf Ordinance No. 821 would not be
violated by exempting single family homes therefrom,and (1) nearly all dwelling
units in the area covered by Ordinance No. 821 are located in multifamily
structures and (2) there are very few single family dwellings in the area
covered;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 821 hereby is amended to delete from
the operation of the conversion prohibited, all single family dwellings located
in the area covered.
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 821 shall otherwise remain in all respects
in full force and effect until it expires at the end of the stated period, or
until rescinded.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo.
at a meeting held on the 5th day of February, 1980, on motion of Councilman Jorgensen
seconded by Councilman Bond, and on the following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Bond, Jorgensen, Billi , unin and Mayor Cooper
