ORDINANCE NO. 862 (1980 Series)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO ESTABLISHING A
MASS TRANSPORTATION COMP:ITTEE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of San Luis Obispo as
follows:
SECTION 1. Part 5 hereby is added to Chapter 4 of Article II
of the San Luis Obispo - Municipal Code, to read as follows:
"Part 5 - MASS TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
Section 2450. Created.
There is hereby established the Mass Transportation Committee
Of the City. /
Section 2450.1 Composition.
The Mass Transportation Committee shall consist of eight
members,rselected by the Council as follows and in accord with
Chatter Section 1202:
(a) One person from the student body of California Poly-
technic University, San Luis Obispo.
(b) One person from the Senior Citizens Organization.
(c) One person from the Human Relations Commission to
articulate the needs of low and moderate income families.
(d) One person from the business community.
(e) Two persons with technical transportation planning
experience.
(f) One handicapped person.
Provided, if in the opinion of the Council there is not
available within any one of the classes listed a qualified

person for appointment, the Council may appoint any other
person, subject to Charter Section 1202 limitations, to fill
the Committee seat for that class.
Section 2450.2 Term of Office.
(a) Members shall serve four year terms; provided that
the terms of the first eight appointed members shall expire
at noon on July 1, 1984. The succeeding four year terms
will begin at noon on July 1, 1984, and every four years
thereafter. No person shall serve as a member of the Mass
Transportation Committee for more than eight years in
succession.
(b) Vacancies shall be filled for unexpired terms.
Section 2450.3 Functions.
The Mass Transportation Committee shall carry out an ongoing
public transit system planning program at the direction of the
Council. This function shall include, but not be limited to,
making recommendations regarding routes and schedules, additional
routes and additional services. The transit system shall not
necessarily be confined to the corporate limits of the City.
The Council may direct the Mass Transportation Committee to
perform such other duties as the Council deems necessary and
appropriate.
INTRODUCED AND PASSED TO PRINT by the Council of the City of San
Luis Obispo as a meeting held on the 5th day of August, 1980, on motion of
Councilman Munger, seconded by Councilman Bond, and on the following
roll call vote:
