I was a bit taken aback. For the past several years I've read and heard ad nauseam of the great concerns, on the part of San Luis Obispo residents and City Council members, regarding the level of alcohol use among the student population and the subsequent problems that emerge because of this 'party' atmosphere. We are all well aware of the affect this has on our neighborhoods, our city, and on young people themselves. Given this great concern, the plans for 1144 Chorro street seem incongruous. A concert venue of 393 (for what will more than likely be filled with college students) and readily available alcohol is not a good mix. If we truly are concerned about the city's wellness and the wellness of young people, this project will be either completely canned or scaled back significantly. If we're really concerned and find we really do NEED a concert venue of this size, we would require the 'lounges' to be closed on concert nights to provide for the wellness of the city and the young people among us. On October 6 at the appeal of this project, I would ask you all to vote against the project or to significantly scale it back. Again, if we are truly concerned with the young people among us, the city would do all in its power to limit the numbers of bars and lounges in town. Thank you for your time and service to the city. Sincerely, Kevin, J. Duggan,SM San Luis Obsipo, CA 93405
