Recently, I have been closely following the Discovery Lanes project and ask that you support the full scope of the project. I recognize the complexity of community and economic impacts related to alcohol permits downtown, but I think city staff made the absolute right call in denying both appeals listed on the September 15th agenda. The City Council has my 100% support in approving the staff recommendation and approving the full scope of the Discovery Lanes project. I understand it's evening atmosphere it has a club like atmosphere in the evening, but regardless, I look forward to visiting during the day with young family members in the next few years and in the evening with friends and visitors. I imagine the space to be wonderful for young families to host vibrant birthday parties, teenagers to spend time after school, a place for new -to -the -area young professionals to get acquainted with our town, parents to have their own special date nights, community events, and so much more! A lot of opposition to the project views it as a strictly party -focused atmosphere, this seems ludicrous. It is a venue that offers much needed entertainment and community gathering which downtown desperately needs. Alcohol being served there does not mean it will become a mecca for student partiers, it means that it provides an incredible opportunity to attract diverse groups of people and create positive SLO memories. We are a town that is not defined by bars, but a town which gives people of all ages something to love about it. Let's continue that tradition with this incredible project. Thank you, Leslie Bloom, 29, Married Resident for 12 years Leslie Bloom leslicannbloome mail.com
