I bowled at Laural lanes, but that is ancient history. Yes, cal poly has bowling, but that is mostly a college scene and always busy, it would be nice to have a place like the new business downtown and be family friendly. I just read the article in the Trib about so many liquor licenses in the downtown. Mostly they are all restaurants or bars. No activities except eating, drinking and dancing in a cramped bar/restaurant? packed with sweaty college kids may be the choice of the twenty something crowd, but not for my family. It seems like in SLO the "bar mafia" is getting preferential treatment as they can have a half dozen bars in downtown serving up the same choice (expensive drinks and crowded sweaty bodies) devoid of wholesome activities. I hope our city council will support a business that will attract people that aren't loud obnoxious drunks to the downtown that want some fun activities. I also read in the Trib that the bowling alley wouldn't be open late. Hopefully they would be able to stay open late to midnight at least. Your consideration of my letter is appreciated.
