Subject: support for the Discovery project
Dear Council Members,
RECEIVED
SEP 15 2015
SLO C.-Tv. CLERK
COUNCIL MEETING: Z5
ITEM NO,: —tk
I am writing to express my support for the Discovery San Luis Obispo project, proposed in our
downtown. I am a homeowner in the downtown area, a working professional, and a soon -to -be
mom. I believe that an activity based venue is much needed in our downtown, and I look
forward to enjoying the bowling alley and event center with my family and friends. I understand
that the project proposes to serve alcohol, and I do not believe that the sale and consumption of
alcohol will detract from the benefits that the Discovery project has to offer. I urge you to deny
the appeals listed on the September 15 council agenda. I also recommend that you consider the
alternatives for this location in your decision. If the Discovery project does not move forward,
what will be the fate of the former Copeland store? More shopping? Another restaurant, that
would inevitably also serve alcohol? Now more than ever our downtown needs this type of
development, which will promote physical activity, and provide a venue for families to interact
with each other and fellow members of their community.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, Valerie Huff
San Luis Obispo
