OUNCIL MEETING: i-CE;VI NO.: I am writing on behalf of support for the Discovery San Luis Obispo project. I have witnessed first hand the management provided by the operators of Discovery Ventura. They provide a responsible and managed experience for people of all ages and demographics. The city of San Luis Obispo would benefit tremendously from the "community event" center that Discovery is. I first met the operators three and a half years ago when they pitched their business plan to me. I decided to invest in the project and saw their vision come to life in the middle of a residential neighborhood in mid -town Ventura. After almost 2 years of operating to the general public, they have received zero calls for service and have a spotless record with the city and police department. The use permits are unconditioned and allow service from 6am-2am 365 days a year. The potential for issues (especially in a residential neighborhood) was a concern of mine. However, their thorough and effective management has mitigated any of the common issues expected with an entertainment facility. The first time I ever visited San Luis Obispo was to view the 1144 Chorro St. property a few months back. After seeing the location, especially compared to the other location in Ventura, I am confident there couldn't be a better location for this type of operation. The operators really care about the community and I believe the city of San Luis Obispo would be remiss if this opportunity is not approved. Regards, L.
