Dear Commission,
RECEIVED
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
OCT 22 2015
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
I am writing in opposition to the exceptions being considered for this permit application. As a property
owner in this neighborhood, I am very familiar with the location of the proposed project and the lack of
on street parking. I understand that the development satisfies the off street parking requirements, but
the lack of street parking will encourage parking in red zones that will cause the city increased time for
enforcement and just plain doesn't make sense.
Additionally, if you grant this owner an exception, what about me? I have a detached studio that I can't
rent or install a cooking facility. You are setting a precedent by ignoring the city codes by which others
must abide, including me. I bought our property with an understanding of the restrictions. So did this
current owner.
The fact that he is or isn't a developer doesn't matter. Being a developer does matter in that he should
be held to a higher understanding of what he bought. He can't claim to be an innocent purchaser even
though ignorance is never a defense.
I urge you to limit the size and scope of this development so it complies with the existing building
standards and requirements.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my comments.
