Subject: To Keep the Tree or to Not Keep the Tree That is the Question.
Dear San Luis Obispo City Council,
As a resident of San Luis Obispo, I feel that it is important to voice my concerns in regards to the new tree in the mission
plaza. I think that the new tree is out of place, and an unnecessary addition to our historic mission. The surrounding
landscape complements the building, and most definitely dose not block the view. The new pine tree is out of place and
blocks a large part of the mission. Now when there are weddings, graduation ceremonies, or special events, the tree
stands out like an uninvited guest in the corner. It has always been a tradition to have a pine tree brought in around
christmas, and it is placed off to the side were it dose not get in the way, and is a beautiful addition to the holiday
decorations. I understand the want to have a tree that is growing all year round. I support their efforts to save trees buy
buying a living one, but I think it was planted int he wrong spot. Why can't they plant it were the christmas tree normally
goes up? Or in a location even further out of the way?
I hope you understand my concerns.
Thank you,
Lucy Israel
