San Luis City Natural Resources Manager, Bob Hill, kindly toured the property and was able to envision how this dredged land would enhance the Sunny Acres property and save the City of San Luis Obispo money due to the sites' proximity. Please note that Sunny Acres, under the direction of Dan DeVaul, is still interested in being the recipient of the dredged land from Laguna Lake. It will supplement the fields for planting at his improved, sober living facility. Wed, Oct 7, Thank you very much for your consideration of this proposal. 2015 at 4:08 PM Sincerely, Mila Vujovich -La Barre milavu _hotmaii.com 805 - 441 -5818 Mila Vuj ovich -La Barre < To: " >, ,John Belsher Development = >, "rhill(cDslocity.org' Erhill@slocity.org >, "Codron, Michael" <mcodron@slocity.org> October 7, 2015 Robert Hill Natural Resources Manager City of San Luis Obispo 990 Palm Street San Luis Obispo, California 93401 -3249 Dear Bob — Thank you so much for coming out to Sunny Acres on Los Osos Valley Road yesterday. Dan DeVaul, Judie Najarian and I appreciated the time that you took to tour the sober living facility that is under construction and to venture out on the 72- acre property. Through your visit, you were able to see the deposit site for the dredged land from the future Laguna Lake remediation. From our tour, you were able to visualize the possible path from the western most portion of Laguna Lake to Sunny Acres and the proximity to the DeVaul property. You commented that there may be as much as 150,000 cubic feet from the excavation and, as you saw, the DeVaul property can easily accommodate that much earth from the dredge. As an advisor for Sunny Acres and as a community member who has been involved in local politics on a volunteer basis , I can assure you that this would be a proverbial "win- win -win" - for the City, the community and the sober living facility on the DeVaul property. First of all, Dan DeVaul has already confirmed that he wants the earth. The proximity of his property is ideal. Also, it would be a minimal cost to the City to transport the dredged material there. Any additional financial compensation to Dan DeVaul that you mentioned would be appreciated, since he has spent a substantial amount of his personal money on Sunny Acres over the years to help individuals with personal challenges. Secondly, the Friends of Laguna Lake have been so patient waiting for the lake to be dredged and restored to its past beauty. The proximity of the DeVaul property and Dan DeVaul's willingness to take the land immediately would delight many of the residents in the Laguna Lake neighborhood. Lastly, with the sober living facility on the DeVaul property nearing completion, residents and volunteers are looking forward to remediating and beautifying other areas on the property. This land from Laguna Lake would enable Dan DeVaul and his crew to establish additional planting and grazing land that would make the entire ranch more attractive for surrounding residents and tourists alike. Since you mentioned that you are in the process of reviewing the Requests for Proposals (RFP) for the remediation of Laguna Lake and the surrounding area, Dan DeVaul, and I give you the liberty now to discuss his desire for the dredged earth with any of the prospective candidates and/or City staff. As a courtesy, I am copying Michael Codron in the Community Development Department who I spoke with last week, John Belsher, Sunny Acres Board President and Dan DeVaul. Since Dan DeVaul and Judie Najarian are available during the work day both by phone and at the property, please feel free to call them directly if you have any questions or if you desire to visit the property again in the near future. Again, thank you for your prompt and professional consideration of our request. Sincerely, Al Mila Vujovich -La Barre Sunny Acres Advisor E -mail: milavu @hotmail.com Mobile: 805.441.5818
