That letter is attached herein and the Downtown Association continues to advocate and support construction of an additional parking structure at the Palm/Nipomo site. As we have seen in this report, there will be a need for this structure to meet anticipated parking load and I expect that as we see more excitement about developments in town, I expect to see a greater demand than what we have seen historically. Please keep in mind that our organization still supports this project after the most recent study. The Board of Directors continues to see a need for increased off street parking in structures and is in favor of conducting the study of that demand which they are sure will support the need for the construction of the proposed structure. Additionally, the Board is in agreement that the construction process should be conducted swiftly to ensure that the project meets the increasing demand on parking as new uses and projects are approved for the Downtown community. The Board of Directors sees the incoming developments with hotel and residential uses as a significant improvement to the Downtown community that carries with it a strain on current parking supply as surface lots are demolished and more people begin using the parking for longer hours. The Palm/Nipomo Structure is a project that the Board anticipates as a part of the overall solution to impacted parking supply and they are simultaneously encouraging alternative transit and multi -modal access to the Downtown core.
