To: Planning Commissioners and Staff, City Council, Mayor, City Manager,
am writing this to express my objection to the building proposed by developers Firestone and Parker
for the property on Santa Rosa /Monterey /Marsh Streets. It is way too tall and too large. It exceeds
the 45 foot height limit and is TOTALLY moving San Luis Obispo in the wrong direction. The charm
and small town character of San Luis is quickly disappearing due to the incredible amount of pressure
to build taller and larger buildings.
It is time for city staff and elected officials to stop allowing the disappearance of what is, and was, so
special about San Luis Obispo. Haven't you learned from other coastal towns in California that once
it's gone it will be gone forever? I am dismayed and think that you are shirking your responsibilities if
you allow this atrocity which exceeds the height limit to be built and degrade our lovely downtown.
Please protect our views of the Morros, hills, sunshine and sky and just say "No." to the developers
and protect what is unique about San Luis Obispo.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McLean
