In general, the city is deficient in adequate parkland, especially if the Laguna Lake Park is taken out of the equation. Neighborhood parks are essential for locating within a 10 minute walk from residents, if the City is going to become a walkable city. There is no park or available land for a park between Foothill Boulevard and downtown. The property at 71 Palomar presents a rare opportunity to save it as a community asset, which will bring public enjoyment and light recreation to this large neighborhood. If the City leaders can support a group of skateboarders and their specific recreation desires with a $2 Million skate park, it certainly can provide the support and funding for the neighborhoods throughout the city who have general recreation and social needs. The City General Plan supports you in taking action now to preserve and develop this property as a park. Thank you.
