Subject: Planning Commission Feb. 10 Item 2 ?
This pertains to tonight's meeting. SLO CITY CLERK
I don't see San Luis Ranch but perhaps it is the 1035 Madonna?
Dear Chair Larson and Commissioners,
Can I share how discouraged many permanent residents are with any attempt
to share real ideas with anyone at the City, including the Council and Planning
Commission. It is more obvious week by week as we share our hearts and emotions
over each of the projects presented. They seem to be on such a fast track that
our heads spin running to one meeting after another.
I think you get the idea and I don't need to say more.
There was a day when we felt the advisory bodies actually heard us and deliberated
more honestly over the decisions to be made. It seemed they took some ideas to heart.
I think that stopped with the hiring of the current City Manager. City salaries are high
and City employment has increased. Now, we NEED developers' money so projects are
being rammed through even though they are not what we need.
The sensible residents of San Luis Obispo are desperate for an answer before this special
place is ruined for the future. At this point there are many seriously important issues that
MUST be considered. It isn't that we do not want any change, Commissioner Multari.
I think you are a nice man but your ideas are quite fixed. Just recently, you alluded to
residents not wanting a certain project in the past. I understand that people can be
resistant
in some matters. At this point in time, however, it should be apparent to all of you,
nearly EVERY project is an exception or exemption. NEARLY EVERY ordinance put in
place for a reason is being stretched by nearly EVERY applicant and given a blessing from
the City Manager and Staff.
Quite frankly, there is a reason to call a halt on this furious race to approval. You cannot
be
held personally responsible for the water shortage we are headed for, but those of you in
positions to advise, must step aside to consider reports of experts. Permanent residents
will not be cornered; they will they will not be silent. We will look for big changes.
