February 19, 2016 To: San Luis Obispo City Mayor Jan Marx and City Council Members cc: San Luis Obispo City Planning Commission Katie Lichtig - City Manager From: Mila Vujovich-La Barre Re: 1101 Monterey Street - Public comment Dear Mayor Marx and City Council Members, During public testimony for 1101 Monterey Street on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, a woman by the name of Martha Miller spoke in favor of the proposed 75 -foot mixed-use project. I also noted that she individually, and with her husband, sent in letters in favor of the proposal, bordered by Santa Rosa, Marsh and Higuera in San Luis Obispo. While I completely support the First Amendment rights of Martha Miller, it seems that she should have identified herself as a professional who works at RRM in her written communication and in her public comment. Perhaps, because of her professional background, she is in favor of the high density in the Downtown core. I understand that. However, in the spirit of transparency and clear communication, it just seems that it would have been most appropriate for her to identify herself as an employee of RRM, who is intimately involved with the project. The situation struck more than one person as "very uncomfortable" who had researched her professional background. As a courtesy, I am providing you with some information about Martha Miller here: j"June 12, 2015 RRM Design Group hires new planner and bolsters zoning code experience RRM Design Group recently welcomed Martha Miller, AICP to their team of professionals.
