Thanks! - Allan To: SLO Planning Commission Re: 175 Venture Drive. SPEC/ER-1318-2015 (Project PR -0090-2015): Preliminary review of the Development Plan for the Avila Ranch project; review of Development Plan chapters regarding Circulation and Infrastructure Framework. We, the residents of San Luis Obispo, are squeezed between a City that is hard-pressed for money and a well-heeled development community that is laying claim to our dwindling water supply. As you know, we and all of California are in the midst of a water crisis and there is no end in sight. Our Council is telling us that we will have to conserve more water to make room for more development. We barely have enough water for ourselves. However, the Council believes that we all have much to gain from this development and, yes, they are correct in this assumption. We will gain more traffic gridlock, more so-called "workforce housing" occupied by students, more water rationing and higher utility bills. The City, on the other hand, stands to gain more property taxes, more sales taxes, more transient occupancy taxes and more upfront development fees. The City has to pay for their bloated bureaucracy, their pension funds and their debt, which is massive and growing. All of this unwanted development must be stopped and nobody on the Council is willing to do this. So we now come to you for assistance in this matter. Please ask this developer to determine what his water "offsets" will be. Ask this developer if he wants to proceed shouldering the costs of all this advanced planning without any guarantees that he will get a permit once we run out of water. Thank you! - Allan Cooper San Luis Obispo
