Bike SLO County is hosting a special event on Wednesday, March 16 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Bello Mundo Cafe, 974 Monterey St., SLO, featuring Meredith Glaser, urban strategy and sustainable mobility consultant. In her work, Meredith focuses on the role mobility — or bicycling — can play in creating better and happier cities. Local community members and elected officials will learn about how to dream and create a bike friendly future for San Luis Obispo County. The event is free. Meredith Glaser grew up in SLO, is a graduate of Mission High School, holds Masters degrees in urban planning and public health from UC Berkeley, and has been based in the Netherlands since 2012. Meredith regularly collaborates with local Dutch municipalities on projects and workshops regarding sustainable transport modes and urban bicycling. She has extensive experiences in collaboration, partnership and project management with different entities around the world. Meredith directs the Amsterdam office for Copenhagenize Design Co., advising cities and towns around the world regarding bicycle urbanism, reestablishing the bicycle as transport in cities, policy, planning, communications and general urban design. Meredith also holds a guest appointment at the University of Amsterdam, where she co -leads a summer course on urban cycling and conducts research on cross -national policy transfer and knowledge exchange related to mobility. She hosts other university -level student groups and international professional delegations for cycling and mobility study tours in the Netherlands and Denmark. Clients and collaborators include People for Bikes, University of Amsterdam, Municipality of Amsterdam, TU Delft, Urban Cycling Institute, and Danish Institute for Study Abroad. Meredith is the chief blogger of Amsterdam Cycle Chic and lives in Amsterdam with her husband, daughter, four bikes and no car.
