Subject: SLO Brew pursues permit for live music
Hello,
I am concerned about the live music permit that SLO Brew is pursuing and I implore you, the city council, to
deny this permit. If live music is permitted I feel it will greatly affect the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
have lived at 4631 Poinsettia Street for over 15 years. It is a quiet neighborhood. However, I can speak from
experience with regards to music/entertainment that occurs at 1150 Farmhouse Lane (Flying Caballas), they
host weddings and other events. From my home we can hear the music, anything that is said over a
speaker/"toasts" given to the bride and groom, any speeches, laughter, etc. There are many nights when I close
my windows so I can sleep and I am thankful that they must stop any music at 10 pm. I am fairly certain that
my home is more than 800 feet from 1150 Farmhouse Lane. Sound travels.
Today I drove over to 855 Aerovista Place to visualize for myself how far away the music would be. I am
afraid it is not far enough. Sound travels. This noise pollution will disturb all of the homes in this quiet
residential area; Ambrosia Lane, La Posada, Fuller Street, Goldenrod, Snapdragon, Poinsettia Street and more.
Besides the noise pollution, I am concerned about SLO Brew hosting events for 600 people. This will greatly
impact the roads into and out of our neighborhoods. There is no stop light at Aerovista onto 227. The turn
lanes are minimal and I can imagine the backup ... even with the later start time of 6 pm on a Friday night. I am
fearful of people attending these events, having too much to drink and turning out onto 227.
Please keep to the city's general plan that states entertainment facilities should be located downtown. Not next
to residential neighborhoods.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Hilty
