Subject: Proposed SLO Brew venue
I am writing to encourage you NOT to approve the development of an outdoor concert venue at the newly constructed
SLO Brew site on Aerovista Place.
My husband and I live in the Santa Lucia Hills development, which includes hundreds of single family residences. My
home is directly across from an event venue called the Flying Caballos Ranch. The owner of this ranch sought and
obtained permission to erect a barn for his livestock animals, which animals are nonexistent. In fact, this barn is currently
being erected in order to accommodate up to 400 people for all kinds of events, all of which can include live music. This
information was given to a friend of mine last week by the owner, Mike Kyle, as she inspected the venue for her
daughter's summer wedding. We moved into our home here last August and were dismayed to realize that when trying to
go to sleep at night, we instead unwillingly listen to voices and music from the ranch instead.
I was also dismayed to learn how much airport noise we hear in our new home, especially when the winds are up and
large and small planes are re-routed to different runways, which means they take off and land directly over our
property. With the expansion of the airport, I assume we will be treated to a great deal more noise therefrom. I am not
complaining about the airport; it was here before these houses were constructed. My point is that the airport is already a
great source of noise for us. A great deal of noise.
The wind currents carry sound an incredibly far distance and I anticipate - without a doubt - that we would be exposed to
unwelcome, loud sound from SLO Brew's outdoor music venue. SLO Brew historically hosts loud, rock and punk music
groups, and there is simply no way we wouldn't be subjected to the noise from these groups. This noise is inconsistent
with the general plan for San Luis Obispo; venues with loud, outdoor music don't belong anywhere near a residential
development.
PLEASE do not allow this part of the SLO Brew development to go forward. We are already exposed to more noise than
is reasonable or welcome in a residential community.
Thank you.
