Subject: SLO Neighborhood Issue -- SLO Brewery Event Center on Aerovista Dr
To City Council Members/ Planning Commission:
I am writing to you concerning the up coming concert facility being constructed on Aerovista by SLO Brewery. I live in the
neighborhood just across 227 and Tank Farm.
We have had major issues in the past with the Flying Cabollos event facility in the past. When music and amplification events are
held we had severe echoing of the sound off the walls of houses into the neighborhood. It was amazing to me the level of sound that
was projected. Over time the owner of the facility graciously worked with the neighbors and has rectified the situation that we rarely
hear any noise.
We are concerned about this new facility that is being designed for concerts and amplification of sound for 600 people. We ask that
you help us with mitigating potential noise amplification from this event location.
1) Sound insulation
2) Hours of music
3) An open procedure to work with the facility in the event that we are impacted with issues.
4) Traffic on 227
Over the years their has been a large increase in traffic in this area of HWY 227. It frequently is extremely dangerous for making
turns left and right since there are side streets along both sides of 227. There have been many serious accidents that have occurred in
this area. Sharing a lane of merging traffic and where cars can come in both directions to merge on the highway as well as making
turns across the lanes into side streets. We urge you to be proactive in dealing with these issues before the situation becomes an even
bigger nightmare.
This area of town is bordering on City of SLO and the county making it difficult for homeowners to express concern and mitigate
issues.
Also, in this neighborhood we have been experiencing idling train issues: noise and air pollution. We have been blessed good people
in the City and with Union Pacific to address some of the idling noise issues. They are listening to our calls.
When we purchased this home in SLO it was during an extreme NO GROWTH
era. Suddenly, faced with NO WATER, we suddenly are in a build and cram it in building period despite NO WATER. Amazing
how we are all supposed to cut watering to the max but build like fire?? Where is the logic?
We appreciate your help and expertise in mitigating these pains of growth.
We know that you all have been put in this city position of authority and are looking for your help in protecting and smart planning for
a great city.
