Subject: Villaggio Development Proposal (April 5, 2016)
Mayor and City Council
990 Palm Street
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
Dear Mayor and City Council:
I am writing in support of Villaggio Communities and John Madonna's application (to be heard April 5, 2016)
for authorization to submit a specific plan for a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in San Luis
Obispo (SLO).
Presently, we (wife and myself ) live independently in Cambria, CA. However, we are in our 70's and have
decided that a CCRC will become our residence in the not too distant future. Our preference is to find a first-
rate one in SLO county.
Investigating CCRC's over the past several years has involved extensive reviews of published material and visits
to accredited CCRC's in Northern CA, Oregon and Washington state. At present we are leaning towards one
CCRC in Northern Oregon and another in Southern Oregon. Comparing what is being proposed by Villaggio,
coupled with the SLO location, with other CCRC's has us most enthusiastically in favor of their proposed
development. We will select Villaggio in SLO for our future home if at all possible.
We have attended all public informational meetings sponsored by Villaggio and Madonna concerning the SLO
proposed CCRC. Our opinion, based upon extensive investigation, is that what is being proposed is a top rate
facility that will fulfill a critical housing and service needs in SLO county
Thank you for your consideration.
